In 1988, Clark was diagnosed with bone cancer. He continued announcing for Wheel of Fortune for as long as he was able to up until the end of the 1987-88 season. During that time, hosts Pat Sajak and Vanna White announced the fee plugs on the syndicated version. When he was away, Charlie O'Donnell and Johnny Gilbert began filling in as substitute announcers.
Clark died on July 21, 1988 at the age of 62, just before production of the 1988–1989 season was to begin, and is interred at Glendale's Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Poker Night at the Inventory is a poker video game developed by Telltale Games. It features four characters: Tycho from the Penny Arcade webcomic, Max from the Sam & Max franchise, the RED Heavy from Team Fortress 2, and Strong Bad from the Homestar Runner web series. The game was released on November 22, 2010.[1]
Plot[edit]
The Inventory is a secret club built underneath a video game storage warehouse. It was established in 1919, after a first draft of the 18th Amendment was acquired by a group of connected gamblers. It was discovered that it could not only outlaw libations, but games and amusements that could decrease the productivity of the national workforce. Despite this never coming to pass, the club has existed since in secret, just in case Congress tried to set prohibition into law. As a newcomer, the player competes in a friendly game of Texas Hold'emPoker with Max of Sam & Max, Strong Bad from Homestar Runner, Tycho from Penny Arcade, and the Heavy from Team Fortress 2. The player is first greeted by Reginald Van Winslow, former captain of the Screaming Narwhal, and sidekick to Guybrush Threepwood in Tales of Monkey Island. He explains the back story of the Inventory, and raises the blinds in game.

Poker Night is a computer-based Texas Hold 'Em poker simulation between the player as an unseen participant and the four characters, Max, Tycho, The Heavy, and Strong Bad. Each player starts with a $10,000 buy-in and stays in the game until they are broke, with the goal of the player being the last player standing. The game uses no-limit betting and a gradually-increasing blind bets over the course of several rounds. Randomly, one of the four non-playable characters will not be able to front the money but will offer one of their possessions as buy-in for the game. The player can win these items as Team Fortress 2 unlockable equipment only if he or she is the one to bust that non-player character out of the game. The game keeps track of the player's statistics over the course of several games, and by completing certain objects (such as number of hands or games won) can unlock different playing card or table artwork to customize the look of the game.[2]

On May 15, 2009, Telltale Games started a survey which was meant to gauge fan reaction to a sequel to Telltale Texas Hold'em.[3] While the team liked the deep conversations that the characters in the original game had, they decided to not go down the same path for the new game, using recognizable licensed characters rather than original 'generic' ones.[4]

To that end, they created a large amount of dialog for each character and possible interactions between the characters; according to Jake Rodkin, Telltale's graphic designer, they wrote more lines of dialog for the game than a typical Sam & Max adventure episode.[2] Telltale always wanted to respect the original characters and worked with the individual creators and studios to improve the lines; they previously had gotten similar input from Matt Chapman for Strong Bad, while Jerry Holkins was extremely helpful to refine Tycho's character based on Telltale's draft dialog.[2][10] The developers also wanted to avoid any forced interactions, and instead developed what they felt were natural relationships: Tycho dislikes Strong Bad while getting along well with Max, while the Heavy looks upon Strong Bad as a tiny Heavy.[2] The characters are also written to be somewhat cognizant of their nature; according to Rodkin, Tycho and Strong Bad are aware of their video game nature, while Max is ambiguous and the Heavy remains blissfully unaware of his death-and-respawning cycle, simply attributing his memories of dying over and over again as dreams.[11]

Budget Host Inn[edit]
In June 1995, after spending eight years in bankruptcy, the Budget Host Inn was acquired at auction for $1.1 million by Shawn Scott, owner of the Post Office Casino in Henderson.[2]
Cheyenne Hotel (1995-99)[edit]
Scott renamed it as the Cheyenne Hotel, and made plans to revitalize the run-down property, including reopening the restaurant and lounge and adding a hotel tower and a casino, taking advantage of the site's grandfathered gaming status.[2] He requested a license for 75 slot machines and 2 table games, but the Nevada Gaming Commission in December 1996 issued only an 11-month limited license for 25 machines, finding his record management to be sloppy.[3] By 1997, the Cheyenne was operating as a Days Inn.[4]
In 1998, MTR Gaming, the West Virginia-based parent company of the Mountaineer Racetrack, acquired the Cheyenne for $5.5 million in cash.[5]
Ramada Hotel and Speedway Casino (1999-2008)[edit]
MTR said it would complete an expansion already in progress, adding 10,000 square feet (930 m2) of gaming space with 350 slot machines and 5 table games, and would rename the property as the Speedway Hotel & Casino and add a motor racing theme, in reference to the nearby Las Vegas Motor Speedway.[6] The hotel became a Ramada Inn. The casino opened in March 1999, leased to Dynasty Games, with 143 slot machines.[7] MTR received its gaming license the following September, and said it would take over operation of the casino on October 1.[8] The official grand opening was held in March 2000, with the casino having expanded to over 300 slot machines, with table games and a Leroy's sportsbook, racing-themed dining areas, and a racecar simulator.[9]
By November 2000, the property had failed to turn a profit, and was taking measures to attract value-conscious guests, including Hispanics, Nellis Air Force Base personnel, and North Las Vegas residents.[10] By 2004, MTR was reporting annual net revenue of $9.8 million at the Speedway.[11]
In February 2007, MTR agreed to sell the complex to Mandekic Cos. for $18.2 million.[11] Mandekic assigned its agreement in May to Ganaste, LLC,[12] a partnership of three investors managed by Seth Schorr, son of Wynn Resorts COO Marc Schorr.[13] The buyers hoped to use the Speedway as a training ground to learn the gaming business before moving on to other acquisitions.[13] The sale of the land and buildings was completed in January 2008 for $11.4 million, with MTR continuing to operate the casino, leasing it for $70,000 a month.[13]

Ganaste took full ownership in June 2008,[14] and promptly renamed the property as the Lucky Club Casino and Hotel.[15]
An electrical fire on June 9, 2008 forced the casino to close for two weeks while critical equipment was repaired.[14]Nevada Gaming Commission approvals in 2013 indicated that a reorganization plan was approved and new ownership was held by Lucky Silver Gaming (LSG). LSG is owned by Seth Schorr, Jeff Fine and other partners.[14]
In 2018, the property was put up for sale, with an asking price of $13 million.[16]
